MA Communication/2009-2011

Here is a different perspective about this MA Communication batch.

Juniors are writing about the Seniors.

1.  Sheetal

For every person , college will be the memorable moment in the life . I am not also an exception. I did my BSc Viscom in PSG CAS ,enjoyed a lot and have learned many things. Then i wanted to take my education to next level. Hence I joined PG in the same college . Most of them  will feel a bore - doing in same college. But for me, it’s the same campus with same Department, but with different Professors. Instead of turning left, I have to turn right to my classroom.

The first person whom i met was Sheetal . At the first moment, i thought she is showoff . After a week i came to know that she is not like that. According to me, she is very kind and gentle person, and she never cares about others and never involves in other person’s personal matters.

I am surprised, when she showed the book BETTER PHOTOGRAPHY  and she read articles to me . Everyday she used to advice me that don’t expect anything from anyone, dont fight with anyone. Hence i am very happy to write about her.

- Naneetha.

2. Elsa Tresa Jose

Its All About ”A promise of god”

“Elza” as its meaning says “a promise of god” .The senior with whom I share more similarities . I accidentally met her on the day while we went to a seminar. And on that first talk itself she almost consolidated her one year long history and made a more consolidated relation with me.

Recently I came to know that she currently shares the first position in the class with Sathya. I believe she will be a promise of help, promise of support and promise of guidance as a senior of mine.
- Rohit A Chelot.

Elsa Tresa Jose

Class : II MA Communication

I met her for the first lime while attending a seminar at Bishop Appasamy College, Coimbatore while attending a workshop on Photography. She was very talkative and was talking as much as she could speak about everything under the sky, to me it seemed like she got another great opportunity to speak Malayalam (Generic language of Kerala) after a very long time.

The name Elsa is a short form of the Biblical name Elisabeth, which means Gods Promise. Casually called, Dhanya, the daughter of Mr Jose and Mrs Tresa, teaching Social Studies and Mathematics respectively at a local school, is blessed to have a very caring elder brother and an younger sister. Her native place is a village called, Nadavayal in the Wyanad district, the most picturesque districts of Kerala.

I could learn that she is one of the most studious student in the class, which can be marked easily as she is the daughter of a Social Studies and a Mathematics teacher. To my very surprise,She told that she has a great passion for sports especially cricket and athletics and affirmed that she was a member of the university cricket team, making me feel a bit blurred, probably because I feel that Studies and Sports are two sides of the same coin.

Finally she was very helpful to me, as she allowed to borrow a few library books in her name. She is usually seen around the library or the reading room.

-George Joseph

It’s my pleasure to disclose some details about my close friend and senior ELSA TREESA JOSE.

Elsa is basically from Wayanad , a district in the north of Kerala.  She comes from a small middle class family with parents as teachers. Her siblings include a younger sister and an elder brother. A sports enthusiast, Elsa, was a football and cricket player at the time of her degree.

Furthermore, she is also an N.C.C cadet at P.S.G. My senior, is also excellent at academics. Having completed B.A English as her main subject, she has currently taken up journalism and strives to do her best. I respect her greatly because of her frankness and helping nature. What is striking about her personality is her friendly approach to everyone. I always sport her at the college campus in simple clothes. ” hostel. I wish her all success for her future.

4. All Seniors
The new academic year has started and so it is time to have itchy feet. When one hints about college, the word that comes in mind is ‘FRIENDS’.

It is here in college, teens knock their socks off with new friends and have all the fun in the world.Boys looking for girls,Students yellularing in their mobile  phones, Seniors bullying  juniors are quite common in the college campus. It is just like being in seventh heaven for the teens at least.
As Greek philosopher Aristotle quoted “Wishing to be friends is quick work, but friendship is a slow- ripening fruit”.Friendship with  seniors is always a good sign at least for our future career.

Our seniors in second year M.A COMMUNICATION  are indeed peppy guys to stick with.Even from the day one,we juniors had no trouble in mixing with the seniors. We discuss about internships, article writings and other contemporary issues with our seniors for they must surely be way ahead of us in the ever precious quality called ‘EXPERIENCE’.

Experience speaks the most, for it moulds the character of an individual and makes one to do the right action with the right attitude in the right time.We do hang around with some of our seniors, for they are never too old to enjoy life.Obviously, our seniors are rambunctious like us but a little bit of maturity gained from the experience is always evident in their behaviour and character. So friends,do have a whale of a time with the seniors and learn the most from them for some day we too become the leading pack.

C.Sriram

5.  Rajkamal

“Birds of a feather flock together”.

As the idiom goes, we have all joined the same course with similar interest of getting into media. Interaction is the lead element of communication. To know better about an individual interaction is the pre-eminent weapon. Hence i took the same weapon to establish a rapport with our senior RajKamal to pen in his brief biography.
RajKamal a student of II M.A. Communication and our senior was very even-tempered to answer all the questions i put forth to him. I would like to clutch this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude for his esteemed cooperation in the midst of the busy college hours.
RajKamal the eldest of the two siblings made his first cry on earth on 27th may 1989. His native being Tirupur he completed his schooling in Tirupur. Kamal a graduate of Visual Communication boasts of on completing his 3 years Under Graduation course in two colleges. He did his first year in Cheran College of Arts and Science at Kangeyam. Due to ill facilities of lab and equipments he shifted to SMS College of Arts and Science in Tirupur to complete his degree.During his Under Graduation his internship with Polimer channels is  remarkable and informative he says[with a bright grin of smile].

After completing his Graduation Mr.Kamal is pursuing his Masters in Communication in PSG College of Arts and Science. He comes from Tiruppur by rails to college. He emphasizes that though journey being tedious, his passion as a media person increases day  by day. He did his internship with Dina Mani, a Tamil daily in the first year of his Masters. On the reply to the question about his future designation, he listed three areas of interests as follows;
1) Starting an advertising firm.
2) Becoming a sub-editor.
3) Getting into teaching profession(he feels this a better option).
He showed less of interest to reporter job as his idea about a reporter job is a “Vomiting Business”.
Other than academics, Kamal is interested in cooking and astrology. Ganesh a friend of Kamal says that Kamal aspires to become an astrologer. Kamal covered almost all the hands of his classmates in a interest to become a flourishing astrologer(Kamal agrees). Apart from all others Kamal does advertising jobs to some local firms in Tirupur(raises his collar).

Some personal touch of Mr.Kamal:

Mr.Ganesh, a friend of Kamal says that Kamal is an highly talented guy and does everything perfect until something goes wrong and spoils it entirely.

Kamal’s friend Mr.Boominathan says that Kamal has got married[ Kamal disagrees but Boomi confirms it by a phone call. Kamal caught red handed].

Kamal’s wife’s name is Raji and they have a son of 4 years who’s name is “kutti Raj”, doing his L.K.G[source:Mr.Boomi ].

To Sum Up:

Last but not the least Mr.Kamal uses the word unfit quiet often to refer people whom he disagrees with.

Thus i would like to once again thank RajKamal for having spent his valuable time on the midst of his busy schedule.

-MALARKODI SELVARAJ

Whole class
The word senior refers to those who are generally and professionally considered as higher in status by the younger people. Same rule is applicable for teenagers and college students.
Almost for a week I tried to meet seniors of my department but despite all my efforts was in vain. The time schedule was so tight that I could not coincide with their leisure time to have a conversation with them. One day somehow I managed to meet them in the early hours of the day as two of our professors were on leave and fortunately our seniors were also free.
I saw, my seniors were busy with their camera and one of them sitting in the table, I went near and sat on a table adjacent to his and started with asking whether he is our senior as he was conversing well with other mates. The moment I asked, he gave me a nasty look with turning opposite to and went off calling his friend. I was totally puzzled and started thinking whether I asked something which I should not have asked and that too with a gentle smile.
I could not gather courage to approach another senior as I was worried of another encounter of the same kind. So I decided to drop the idea and went to the class to read news paper.
It will be unfair to judge the mentality of whole class by a particular student, but I am sure, there is some thing wrong with the relationship of this two classes as I remember, one of my classmate told that she too encountered somewhat same kind of incidence.
I believe Perfection cannot be attained without friendly behavior, discussion and sharing views with mutual understanding especially in the field of journalism studies. I am hopeful for positive changes in these minor issues and will take all possible steps and initiatives for better relationship.

Wildlife Sticker labels for FREE

Dear Nature Enthusiast,

To sensitise  School Kids towards Nature and Environment, I have prepared a set of Labels which can be pasted in their Note and Text book wrappers.

These Labels were officially released by NWEA President and Nilgiris Collector Archana Patnaik in the presence of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve Field Director Dr. Rajiv K. Srivastava  at Ooty on March 31, 2010.

The set of 24 labels contain images of Birds, Mammals, Reptiles and Butterflies.

All of them were photographed by me (Hence no worry about Copyright issues later) in our Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. I have tried to accommodate their habitat space too in these labels which measure 11 X 6 cms.

They are printed on a sticker sheet. Hence self adhesive. Common name and the Scientific name of the fauna is given to make the students learn them easily.

Free offer: Since I did not print any Wildlife Calendar this year (2010), I am compensating it with the labels.

Students or Parents who are in my mailing list can get a set of 24 labels for FREE. All you need to do is just post a reply in the Comments box below.

It is distributed from  5 PM of April 12, 2010 at

COMFY (Readymade, Casual Apparels store)

127, Thirugnana Sambandam Road, Race Course.

(This shop is diagonally opposite to CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science main gate. This is a link road to Race Course from Nilgiris Departmental Store in Avinashi Road, Coimbatore).

Please avoid asking labels through post, because

(a) Postal fares will be costlier than the product cost.

(b) The size of the sheet is 20 X 15 inches. It has to be folded several times and when it reaches you, it will look crumpled too.

A set comes in an A 3 Sheet like this.

Here is a sample label.

2. Please do not ask for soft copies. I wish to retain the images for my works exclusively.

3. Outstation people - if you are too crazy about this label and not worried about the postal expenses, then you can send stamped, self addressed envelope (Size which can accomodate A4 sheet).
